Vinson Massif Expedition
Climb Antarctica

Summary

Climb Vinson Massif, the highest mountain of Antarctica, located just 650 miles from the South Pole! After spending a day in Punta Arenas , Chile preparing for your journey, you will depart for your flight to Antarctica aboard a Russian Illuyshin cargo plane. The landing on the blue ice of Patriot Hills is an experience you will not forget! A Twin Otter on skis will transport you to Vinson Base Camp from Patriot Hills.

The route on Vinson involves glacier travel and moderately steep snow climbing. Solid mountaineering skills and a true pioneer spirit are a must for this climb. Although Vinson is not terribly technically difficult, due to the extremes of the Antarctic environment climbing team members must have crampon, ice ax and rope travel experience. With temperatures as low as 40 below, proper gear and physical preparation are essential.

Having lead guides with extensive Antarctic experience will allow you to know you are in the best of hands. A clear summit day will reveal a surreal land of ice extending to the horizon.

Why go?

  • Summit the highest peak in Antarctica and experience the sun that never sets
  • For climbers with a truly adventurous spirit, journeying to the land of extremes
  • Considered to be the most unusual of the Seven Summits climbs
