Cerro Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere, as well as the highest peak outside of Asia . Located on the Chilean-Argentine border, it is easily accessed through the Argentine city of Mendoza.
The Stone Sentinel, or Aconcagua, is considered one of the World's great mountains and is a highly sought after goal of climbers World wide. The mountain has some of the most technically difficult big mountain routes on Earth, yet also holds non-technical routes to the summit.
The Expedition Broker works with guiding companies offering the "less traveled" route options for Aconcagua. The Upper Vacas route has proven to be no more difficult than the Normal or Standard routes, yet is incomparably more scenic and sees a fraction of the traffic. The Polish route is also an option for those looking for a greater technical challenge.
While not technically difficult, Aconcagua is always highly physically demanding. Basic knowledge of ice ax, crampon and rope work are all required. The combination of high altitude, winds and cold temperatures make this a challenge for any mountaineer!
